Special Education Services (SPED)

Special education is a broad term that describes the education of students who have intellectual, physical, behavioral, or emotional disabilities. Special education involves specially designed instruction tailored to the unique needs of each child and is provided at no cost to parents. The federal law Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures services to children with disabilities throughout the nation.

ADM provides special educational services that follow all applicable state and federal laws, with the support Heartland AEA, ADM’s regional education agency. ADM’s special education delivery plan was developed in accordance with Iowa Administrative Code rule 41.408(2)”c”. The group of individuals who developed the service plan included parents of eligible individuals, special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, and at least one representative of the AEA.
