In Financial Literacy class, ADM High School students are gaining hands-on experience for their financial future by practicing how to complete the 1040. During their tax unit, students learned about calculating their taxable income, common deductions, and credits. Students were given real-world scenarios and sample W-2 and 1099 forms and then asked to fill out the necessary sections, calculate their total income, and determine whether they would owe taxes or qualify for a refund.

As you can see, students worked in small collaborative groups to help them gain confidence in handling tax forms while developing critical thinking and teamwork skills. They compared their completed 1040 forms, double-checking for accuracy, and discussed any differences they had to ensure they understood each step of the process.
