Katie Ruhland celebrates 5 years of service with ADM this year!
Katie is a School Counselor at Adel Elementary School. She was born and raised in LeMars, Iowa and obtained her BA from Iowa State University and her Masters from Buena Vista University. Katie taught kindergarten at AE prior to transitioning to her counselor role in 2023. Regarding why she chose ADM, Katie says she could tell from the small conversations in her interview that ADM employs exceptional people who lean on one another and care deeply about their students. This is also why she stays at ADM; the staff and the students. Katie says, “We have the BEST students. They care about each other and are just so bright!”
Katie wanted to become a teacher/counselor because she wanted to make each student feel like they belong and can achieve anything they dream of. What she loves most about her current role is learning each student’s name and something important to them. She says, “It is my goal each year for students to feel like they belong at school and they know their teachers and staff members care about them. It’s the best job in the world! I am so lucky!”
