Ellie was born and raised in Waukee and went to college at University of Northern Iowa. She is currently a 1st Grade Teacher at Adel Elementary School. She student taught at AE and was given an opportunity to see how great the climate was at that time. According to Ellie, “The level of commitment to providing a great education to all students and the support given to teachers is what made me want to stay at ADM after my student teaching experience.” She also stays because she feels the people and connections are so special. Ellie stated, “I feel pushed to be a better teacher while also feeling safe to try new things in my classroom along the way.”
Ellie wanted to become a teacher because, as she states, “Teaching is the profession that creates all others.” Everyone remembers their favorite teacher and how they made them feel. Ellie wanted to have a positive impact on the future of the kids in her class. Ellie’s favorite thing about teaching is seeing the growth the kids make. She says, “Watching the kids become so proud to be able to do things they found hard at the start of the year is amazing.”
