The ADM Tiger Marching Band has had an exciting year. They marched this season with 16 color guard members, 22 percussion members, and 75 wind players. The band was kept in step by drum majors Soila Winter (grade 12), Aubree Timmer (grade 11), and Devin Morey (grade 10). The marching band’s performance show was called Toxic. The three songs within the show were “Rick & Morty,” “Toxic,” and “Radioactive.” Featured students included: Patrick Lee, Taylor Braun, Emily Piepmeier, Keegan Holdmeyer, Ryland Moss, Andrew Nelson, Devin Morey, Owen Royer, Robbie Hall, Keegan Clinton, Ian Chase, Evie Horgen, and Kennedy Metzger.
The marching band performed at the Sweet Corn Parade, five home games, the North Central Marching Band Festival, the day & night shows at ValleyFest, and The IHSMA State Marching Band Festival. At the North Central Marching Band Festival, ADM’s marching band scored 82.5/100. The awards they received were the best Woodwind section of the evening, first place in class 3A, and Grand Champion which means best marching band of the festival.
Next the ADM Tiger Marching Band traveled to West Des Moines for ValleyFest. This is the first year our marching band has participated in both the Day Contest and the evening Showdown. The Tiger Marching Band went into the morning starting in 5th place (last year) and moved up to third place scoring a 71.4/100. The band started the Showdown in last place because we have never performed at this contest. They ended up placing fifth with a score of 70.4.
The Tiger Marching Band finished off their contest performances in Waukee at the IHSMA State Marching Band Festival on October 19th. Led by senior drum major Soila Winter, the Tiger Marching Band received their sixth Division 1 Superior rating in a row. They also broke ADM’s school scoring record from 79.9 to an 85.1.
Congratulations to our Tiger Marching Band for a great 2024 season!
